Urmila Ravindra Nikode, a 28-year-old from Selukate village, always wished to contribute to her family’s income while managing her responsibilities at home. Living in a joint family with limited financial independence, she was determined to create an opportunity for herself.

Her journey began to take a positive turn when she became part of the livelihood programme in her village. Looking to build something of her own, Urmila actively joined training sessions and made the most of each opportunity. She was particularly engaged in digital literacy training, where she gradually built confidence in using smartphones, handling online transactions, and accessing financial services. With each session, she not only gained new skills but also developed the confidence to apply them in her daily life, opening up new possibilities for earning and independence.

With the support of the project, she received essential tools such as a biometric device, a computer, and a printer. Making the most of this opportunity, she gradually expanded her work by adding new services like lamination, upgrading to a colour printer, and registering as a Common Service Centre.

Today, Urmila is steadily building her own source of income and gaining confidence in her abilities. Her journey is a strong example of how determination, combined with the right support, can lead to meaningful and lasting change.
